Summary of Actions at 2006 Executive Board Conference Calls

February 15, 2006

The following people attended the conference call: 11 Executive Board members, Executive Director Stephan Hienzsch, and staff members Bill Adams, Barbara Ballard, Sally Davenport, Lisa Howard, and Cindy Vimont.

Sandi Bishop made a motion, seconded by Gaye McCabe, that funds remain in the National Championship account for eventual use for a National Championship.  No further recommendations for use of these funds is necessary at this time.  Motion carried.  One opposed and one abstention.  This motion resulted from the recommendations of the Working Group on the National Championship Fund.

Sue Hughes made a motion, seconded by Kat Kyle, to change the name from the "Advanced Young Rider Graduate Program Committee" to the "Young Rider Graduate Program Committee."  Motion carried.  This motion was recommended by the committee.

March 27, 2006

The following people attended the conference call: 10 Executive Board members, Executive Director Stephan Hienzsch, and staff members Bill Adams, Barbara Ballard, Lisa Howard, and Cindy Vimont.

George Williams made a motion, seconded by Sandi Bishop, to approve the Guidelines for Determining Regional Championships Infractions and Applicable Penalties document with the following change: "Effective with the 2006 USEF/USDF Regional Championships season, violations will be tracked and fines may be increased for the following year for repeated violations."  The document will become part of the USDF Policies and Procedures.  Motion carried.  One opposed.  The document was developed by a subcommittee of the Regional Championships Committee and the USDF staff, with a goal of improving the quality of the Regional Championships.  

Sue Hughes made a motion, seconded by Terry Wilson, to conduct a national symposium in conjunction with the 2007 annual convention in Orlando.  Motion carried.

Sandi Bishop made a motion, seconded by Sue Hughes, that USDF hold its 2007 Spring Executive Board meeting in Las Vegas in conjunction with the FEI World Cup.  Motion carried.

Janine Malone made a motion, seconded by Fern Feldman, that USDF pay airfare and food for Executive Board members, and Board members pay for their hotel rooms, at the Spring meeting in Las Vegas.  Motion carried.  

July 6, 2006

The following people attended the conference call: 10 Executive Board members, Executive Director Stephan Hienzsch, and staff members Lisa Howard, Regine Scheck-Seberger, Cindy Vimont, and Christine Walker.

Concerning the site of the 2008 annual convention, Kat Kyle made a motion, seconded by Sue Hughes, that Regine Scheck-Seberger visit Salt Lake City, pending a positive outcome from Theresa Hunt's investigation, and Denver as second choice if Salt Lake City is unsuitable.  Motion carried. 

Janine Malone made a motion, seconded by Kat Kyle, that Luipold Pharmaceuticals be the title sponsor of the USDF annual convention, national symposium, and year-end awards.  Motion carried.  Luipold Pharmaceuticals is the manufacturer and distributor of Adequan.  The contract with Luipold is from 2006 through 2010.

Fern Feldman made a motion, seconded by Sandi Bishop, to hold five USDF University sessions at the 2006 annual convention.  Motion carried.

Fern Feldman made a motion, seconded by Janine Malone, to support the five USEF national dressage championships at one venue at the same time.  Motion carried.  One abstention.  The championships are the USEF National Grand Prix Championships, the USEF National Intermediaire I Championships, the USEF Brentina (Passage) Cup, the USEF National Young Rider Championships, and the USEF National Junior Championships.

Sandi Bishop made a motion, seconded by Sue Hughes, that USDF work cooperatively with USEF to develop similar selection procedures for (1) the North American Junior Championships and the USEF National Junior Championships, and (2) the North American Young Rider Championships  and the USEF National Young Rider Championships.  Motion carried.  One abstention.

August 15, 2006

The following people attended the conference call: 11 Executive Board members, Executive Director Stephan Hienzsch, and staff members Sally Davenport, Lisa Howard, Linda Schultz, and Kim Sodt.

Sue Hughes made a motion, seconded by Theresa Hunt, to induct Major Robert Borg into the USDF Hall of Fame.  Motion carried.

Janine Malone made a motion, seconded by Alison Head, to induct Sarah (Sally) Swift into the USDF Hall of Fame.  Motion carried.

Barbara Funk made a motion, seconded by Sandi Bishop, to induct Roemer into the USDF Hall of Fame.  Motion carried.  Major Borg, Sally Swift, and Roemer were all recommended by the Historical Committee for induction into the USDF Hall of Fame.

Sue Hughes made a motion, seconded by Alison Head, to include the Glossary in the 2007 USDF Directory.  Motion carried. Two abstentions.  Consideration of including the Glossary in the Directory was brought to the Executive Board because of the much larger size of this year's Glossary which will result in a significant increase in printing cost.

Concerning Executive Board and Strategic Planning Meetings at this year's annual convention, Fern Feldman made a motion, seconded by Sue Hughes, that the Board meet on Monday late afternoon and evening, November 27; the Strategic Planning Meeting be held on Tuesday, morning, November 28; and the Board meet on Tuesday afternoon, November 28.  Motion carried.

September 11, 2006

The following people attended the conference call: 10 Executive Board members, Executive Director Stephan Hienzsch, and staff members Lisa Howard and Regine Scheck-Seberger. 

The Board discussed the pros and cons of holding the 2008 annual convention and national symposium in Denver or Salt Lake City, using the results of Regine Scheck-Seberger's site visits to the two cities.  After the discussion, five Board members voted for Denver, and four Board members voted for Salt Lake City.  Accordingly, the Board chose Denver for the 2008 annual convention and national symposium.
